Scraptastic April Kit-Blanket Love

A month or so ago I shared two layouts I had made with the Scraptastic Kit Awake My Soul.  There was some Fancy Pants Design in the kit, but I added some Fancy Pants and Dear Lizzy from my stash as well to make the layout below. Eli absolutely loves his blanket - cannot really sleep without it - so this photo was a perfect reason to scrap that about him.

I cut the "love" with my silhouette cameo. I really like using script fonts in my titles and a big reason why I bought the cameo.

Some of the die cuts and paper are from Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic - Still love that line and how well it mixes with a lot of the other lines I own.

I was out of the letter "A" on my sticker sheet from Basic Grey so I needed a substitute - This @ flair from Studio Calico was perfect and I like how it adds "more" to the title. I also used the Anchors Away paper from Fancy Pants Design again - I can't stop using it - definitely one of my favorites!

Hope you are having a good week! Thanks for stopping by!

Layout - Love this Boy

Today, I am sharing a layout I made of my son, Max. I started with the Big Dipper Add on from Studio Calico. However, the papers were not really working for me. I think it is because Max is in a wood play house (though a little hard to tell) and the papers in the Big Dipper Add on felt less outdoors-ey and more city-ish (are those words??) Anyways, I ended up using some embellishments from the Big Dipper Add on but switched out the paper and added some other embellishments, as well as stitching. I used the Amy Tangerine Embroidery Stencil Kit for the stitching. I was hesitant to buy the stencil but I am glad I did. It makes stitching easy!

One thing I have definitely learned about myself is I really enjoy getting kits because there are a lot of times things I would not normally use and it "stretches" me. But on the other hand - as you can see from THIS POST - I don't really like to confine myself to "just the kit". I like to add in things from my stash. Everyone works differently, and you have to find what works best for you.

Here is my layout - using some My Mind's

Friday Favorites - Lily Bee Design

Here are my Friday Favorites this week featuring Lily Bee Design:

Letter Stickers -Link to Two Peas

These are their new style of letter stickers and I love the different font and all the different colors you get. I currently have the Destination and Sweet Shoppe ones.

Destination Paper -Link to Two Peas

I love the design of this paper and even though it is with their travel line, I think it would work great for July 4th or summer pages.

Sweet Shoppe Label Stickers - Link to Two Peas

These are great for Project Life or layouts. They also have these with their other new lines as well.

Persnickety 6x6 pad - Link to Two Peas

I bought this awhile back and it is from one of their "older" collections, but I love the designs and find that they work well with their newer collections as well - especially Sweet Shoppe. (I used it in my Week 4 Project Life that you can see HERE.) Also, it is 25% off at Two Peas right now...

Sweet Shoppe Circle and Tag Stickers - Link to Two Peas

I bought these a month or so ago and really like them for Project Life or a layout. Plus, they are only around $1. They are sold out at Two Peas but you can find them HERE at Scrapbook.com.

Hope you have a happy Friday - Thanks for stopping by!

Layout using Shimelle's Sketch

I made this layout back in April using a sketch I saw on Shimelle's website.  Here is the post with the sketch and the sketch I used:

When I work off of a sketch, I usually just look at the sketch and then go make my page. I rarely refer back to it so I usually make some changes along the way. For example, on my layout, I used one photo instead of three, and my journaling went below my title instead of in the box on the left side. I used some items from the Scraptastic April Kit - Awake My Soul as well as some other items from my stash. The background paper was from Dear Lizzy's Neapolitan collection - It felt good to use an "older" collection :) Here is the layout with some close ups:

Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm

I made these layouts using Dear Lizzy's Lucky Charm awhile ago but just realized I had not shared them on my blog.  I was really excited about this line when it first came out and I was not disappointed! I have to say I really wasn't sure about it when I saw it in person but decided to buy some of it anyways. I am really glad I did because it is so fun to work with and I have ended up buying quite a few more pieces of it. I also used some of Dear Lizzy's previous line, 5th and Frolic. They mixed really well together.

Here is Layout 1 of my youngest, Max:

And Layout 2 - one of my parents with all the grandkids at the time (there are now 6!):

Scraptastic - May Kit

I am sharing a layout I made with the Scraptastic May Kit - Destination Unknown. I challenged myself to make a page with just the kit. Let me tell you - I really struggled with this! I did use some punches and it probably would have helped if I would have used my Silhouette cameo...especially for the title - but I didn't. I ended up cheating a little and using some extra thread for the "baby" in my title. This is mainly because I messed it up the first time and had to cover it with the tag...lesson learned - do not try stitching for the first time on an almost complete layout :) I also had to add the paper at the bottom with the journaling as I smeared the original journaling...

Anyways, here is my page with some close ups:

Basically, I have learned that for me that limiting myself to just the kit can actually take me longer than adding in my stash as I need it. I know a lot of people do better working with limited supplies..but it actually was more time consuming for me and a little more frustrating!  I haven't picked the kit back up yet - probably b/c this one was such a struggle, but I hope to use it more soon AND use my stash with it :)

Scrap Our Stash Challenge #4

I am sharing a layout I made for the Scrap Our Stash Challenge #4. The requirements were that the layout be about a male and that you use at least 5 brads. I made a layout about my son Max and used 6 brads that I put in the middle of the wheels on the bicycle stamp.

HERE is a link to my project at Two Peas, which shows the majority of the supplies I used. Here are few other items:
- Studio G Stamp Set - Enjoy the Ride (purchased at Michael's - You can see a picture of it on THIS blog post.)
- Kikkerland Arrow Clip
- Large Red Paper Clip

Layout-My Boys

I am sharing a layout that I made on Mother's Day of my boys and I. I really didn't even think about the fact that it was Mother's Day until after it was done. This is probably one of my favorite layouts - I used a lot of new items that I have been wanting to use - instead of hoard - and I really like how it turned out! I used Maggie Holmes' line for Crate Paper, Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm and Fancy Pant's Trendsetter. These three lines really compliment each other.

Full Layout

I resisted buying the Maggie Holmes' gold thickers for awhile but finally caved and glad I did! I also love the paper I used as a background. I used it on another layout - you can see that here - and think I could use it on a few more....

I cut the "love" with my cameo using POW glitter paper.

I plan to write some journaling and put it in the patterned envelope - I love these envelopes and have quite a few. I am really glad I finally used one on a page!

If you want to see the majority of the products used, you can find my layout HERE at Scrapbook.com. (I normally upload to Two Peas but could not get it to work.)

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a Happy Monday!

Where I have been....

It has been a rough couple of weeks for me...well, actually the last 2 months have been rough. If you have read my blog some, you may know that my maternal grandmother passed away in mid-April. She came to Nashville for a short time and lived with my parents right before she died. I stayed with her some as she needed someone with her all the time.  About two weeks after she passed away, my father in law had knee replacement surgery and then ended up having a heart attack a few days after the surgery (about 3 years ago, he had bypass surgery where he had 5 bypasses so this obviously greatly concerned us). He had to have two stints put in a few days later.... He is doing better but is still struggling some - especially with eating as he is on a lot of meds that make him sick. Then, two weeks ago, I found out my paternal grandmother was in the hospital. I went to Missouri to see her that Saturday (May 18th).  We found out she had a heart attack but seemed to being doing better. I stayed with her in the hospital that night and got to help with her some on Sunday before I came back to Nashville. I got a call Monday morning that she wasn't doing well and was very close to dying. I packed up and headed pack to Missouri - luckily only a 3-4 hour drive from my house.  I got there just a couple of hours before she passed away. I was extremely close to her so it has been rough since then. I have been in Missouri off and on - got sick after the funeral - and finally was back to work on Wednesday.  All that to say - it has been a rough time for me the last couple of months and I am so glad June is here!

Here is a layout I made of my grandmother and I a few months back.  The picture is from about 6 years ago. We were at a family reunion and visiting places important to her family.  In the picture, we are at the house...well shack...where she was born.

The tag in the glassine bag is where I planned to write my journaling. I still have not written it, and I am sure it will be a lot different now than when I made the layout.

She was 87 and lived a very full life. I know she is in heaven and I will see her again, but that doesn't really change the fact that I miss her...a lot. I know it will get easier, but I have just been sad off and on. I feel so blessed to have been her granddaughter and to have been able to have such a great relationship with her.  Not everyone has that.

Thanks for reading and I hope to be back to normal posting soon...
