Scrap Our Stash - May Sketch Challenge Layout

Hi All - Today my layout for the May Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash is up on their blog. The challenge is as follows:

Create a layout based on this sketch below.  You must create your own background by using cardstock, a stencil and/or mask and using some form of medium (ink, paint, etc) from your stash.

Below is my layout for the challenge:

For my layout, I ended up flipping the sketch and making a column of pictures to the left. For my title, I laid out Heidi Swapp letter masks (that have been in my stash for quite awhile!) and colored over the letters with an ink dauber. I also used a circle star mask on three spots on my layout. I sprayed over the masks with Mr. Huey in Shell. After making the background, I added in my column of pictures, added my journaling and a few embellishments. A lot of the items came from the Studio Calico May kit.

The prize this month is a $30 gift card from Scrapbook Circle. To be entered, just link up a layout on the Scrap Our Stash blog that meets the Challenge Guidelines. We would love to see your work!

Thanks for stopping by!

Scrap Our Stash - Stash Challenge Layout for May

Hi All - Today I am sharing my Scrap Our Stash - Stash Challenge Layout for May. The challenge this month is as follows:

Create a layout and include the following:
Something Old: Patterned Paper or Embellishment that has been in your stash 6 months or more
Something New: Patterned Paper or Embellishment that you purchased within the last 6 months
Something Fussy Cut
AND...
Something Blue: Patterned Paper, Cardstock, Embellishment, Alphas, Ink/Paint, your choice!

And here is my take on the challenge:

"For this challenge, I pulled out an older photo of my son and documented about how he always had (and still sometimes does have!) his fingers in his mouth. I used patterned paper for the background from Dear Lizzy's newest line for American Crafts, which is less than 6 months old. The blue paper from Echo Park and the green paper from Studio Calico that mat the photo are both from lines that are at least a year old. I fussy cut the stamped green chevrons above the journatling block. I ended up using blue cardstock to mat the background paper, as well as blue patterned paper to mat the photo."

This month the prize is a $30 gift card to Scrapbook Circle.

To be entered, all you have to do is link up a layout at Scrap Our Stash that meets the challenge. We would love to see your take on it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Favorites - On Saturday

Hi All! I thought I would pop in with a few Friday favorites since I have not done this in awhile...even if it is a Saturday! So here we go:

Studio Calico - Bluegrass Farm Main Scrapbook kit

I truly like most of the Studio Calico kits and that is why I am a subscriber. However, this kit has been one of my absolute favorites! It has a lot of navy, red, yellow and green - all colors that go great with all the "boy" photos in my life. I have already made 5 layotus with the kit and am still loving it.

Here is one of the layouts I have made with the Bluegrass Farm kit:

If you liked the Dear Lizzy gold dot vellum that you can no longer find, this is very comparable. I love it and could use it on every page!

This stamp set is super cute and great for any birthday card!

These sequins come in a variety of colors and you get 3 shapes with each color - two circular sequins - one small and one slightly bigger - and star sequins. My personal favorite are the Woodshop..especially the stars! I use these as I would enamel dots..but they are much cheaper!

If you follow any card bloggers, you have probably seen these glitter brush pens. They are used to add just a touch of glitter. They are easy to use as you just brush the glitter on - no mess!

Well I hope you are having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
