Project Life 2011 Catch Up + Month 2 Baby Pages

The Mom Creative

I am taking a monthly approach to Project Life, so since January is still not complete, I am using Project Life Tuesday at the Mom Creative to "catch up" on my 2011 album and make progress on my sons' baby albums. You can find out more about Project Life HERE. Here are some pages I have completed this past week:

Project Life 2011 - Weeks of October 23rd & 30th and November 6th
(This spread is actually 3 different weeks.  I did not have a lot of pictures from those weeks so I just combined 3 into one spread.)

Close up of 1st Page
(I used Design G for this page.)

Close up of 2nd Page
(I used Design D for this page. I know there has been some discussion about not having horizontal journaling cards, but I found these three designs that worked well from the Turquoise edition.)

Back of the 2nd Page
(I decided to show the back of the 2nd page (despite the fact I am missing the ultrasound pictures I need to scan in) because I know people have commented on how the Title Cards only work for horizontal slots. Here was my solution.  I used cardstock from the Turquoise edition and cut it to 4x6.  Then I cut one of the Title Cards where I could still use the writing block and see the month that this spread related.  This week happened to only be one page and is actually the end of my first album.)

Supplies used: Project Life Turquoise kit and cardstock and Becky Higgins Photo Pocket Pages

Eli's Baby Album - Month 2
Pages 1 & 2

Close up of Page 1
(I used Design A for this page.)

Close up of Page 2
(I used Design B for this page.)

Pages 3 & 4

Close up of Page 3
(This is the back of Page 2, so Design B is used.)

Close up of Page 4
(I used Design A for this page.)

Supplies used: Becky Higgins' Baby Kit (sold by Creating Keepsakes) & Becky Higgins Photo Pocket Pages, Grid Journaling cards and Journaling card from the Amber Edition

In addition to the above, I also created a traditional scrapbook page this week.  This is my first in about a year! I had 3 pictures from different months of Eli with some of his cousins that I got after those weeks were completed (at least picture wise), so I decided to create a layout.  To make it fast, I limited myself to only using paper from the Turquoise edition since it is going in my 2011 album.  I did use some letter stickers and rubons I already had.  This is probably one of the fatest traditional pages I have ever made, and I really like it.  I credit Project Life for helping me to be ok with a simple layout.  Here it is:

Project Life Tuesday + Baby Pages

The Mom Creative

I am participating in The Mom Creative Project Life Tuesday as a way to keep up with my 2012 Project Life family album and finish my 2011 Project Life family album, as well as, make some progress on my sons' baby albums, which I am mostly doing "Project Life style".  Since I am doing a monthly approach to 2012, I am waiting at the end of the month to pull my layouts together, so I don't have any 2012 pages yet.  However, I have included some 2011 Project Life pages that I have finished this past week.  I finished a few weeks, including our 2011 summer vacation week.  We had a lot of pictures from vacation so I included extra page protectors and pictures for that week.  Here are the pages:

Week of June 26th & July 1st-8th (Page 1)

July 1st-8th (Page 2 & 3)

July 1st-8th (Page 4 & 5)

 July 1st-8th (Page 6 & 7)

Week of September 18th
(I included a 6 x 12 page protector in the middle of this spread.  The front has 3 pictures of Eli I cropped and the back includes my birthday card from Brian and Eli.  I created a "pocket" for the card just using card stock and adhesive tabs.)

Supplies used: Project Life Turquoise kit and cardstock, Becky Higgins Photo Pocket Pages, We R Memory Keepers Page Protectors, American Craft Page Protectors & Stickers, Other Cardstock - Unknown

In addition to the Project Life Family album, I am also doing albums for my sons.  The first album is their baby album of their first year.  I am MOSTLY doing this album Project Life style and using Becky Higgin's page protectors - especially the monthly pages.  The papers, die cuts, etc, are mostly from Becky's baby kit that was sold through Creating Keepsakes.  Here is the first month for my son, Eli:

Month 1 - Page 1 & 2

Month 1 - Page 3 & 4

Month 1 - Page 5 & 6

I am really loving doing Eli's baby album in the "Project Life style".  The first month came together so quickly! This is why I love this system!  You can learn more about Project Life HERE.

First Blog/ Project Life

I created this blog last year but never did anything with it so one of my new year’s resolutions was to start blogging. The main reason I wanted to start blogging is due to all the blogs I have enjoyed reading that I found through Project Life so here goes…

There has been a lot of posts on blogs lately about Project Life, so I thought I would add my 2 cents to the mix.  Project Life is a memory keeping product created by Becky Higgins.  You can find out more HERELast year was the first year I did Project Life.  I MAINLY did a weekly approach (i.e. one or two page spread of pictures for a particular week).  This did not work for the entire year as a sick pregnancy got in the way (specifically the month of May) but I did manage to take pictures MOST weeks and did a decent job of keeping up with it.  I also added extra pages to highlight certain holidays and vacations, such as Easter weekend. I still have to finish the last weeks of the year and a good chunk of journaling for the last half of 2011.  I am hoping to finish it up before I go back to work from my maternity leave..so I have got 4 weeks…hmmm..we will see.

Here are a few of my pages from my 2011 Project Life:

Looking back on 2011, I am so glad I did this project.  I ended up documenting A LOT about Eli, my toddler..(shocking I know!).  I love that I documented some of the everyday things that will soon be forgotten as he gets older.  It really made me pick up my camera more, which I am also glad about so I was able to capture big and little moments.  Because of how much I enjoyed it for 2011, I am continuing Project Life in 2012 but with a little bit of a more relaxed approach.  I have decided to take a monthly approach because honestly, this is more doable and more enjoyable for me.
In my next posts, I plan to tell more about how I plan to approach doing a monthly Project Life based on what worked and didn’t work for me last year.  Also, I hope to tell more about my scrapbook system and how I have kept up with memory keeping in the past and how I plan to do it going forward.
Thanks for reading….
